Designing and Planning Your Garden Wedding
Ideas to design and plan your Garden themed wedding or outdoor wedding.
I’ve combined D.I.Y. outdoor and garden themed weddings, so take as much information as you need, and you never know what ideas you’ll spark on your own.
First, you need to know your options, deciding if you want to go through whats involved and what it will take for you to pull this off. Its possible but the choice is yours. You also need to be aware of weather conditions and being prepared for having a plan B. Whats involved in serving food and wedding cake outdoors, keeping it properly tempered? The last thing you want is someone remembering they ate spoiled food, or melted wedding cake at Your wedding reception.
Let’s Begin: first you will need to Asses the Grounds. Is there maintenance and upkeep or will there be?
You will need to visualize the landscape and design that you want to create in this open area. What section will you use to place your aisle runner or create your walkway? This leads to your alter that you will have to create, due to not having any walls already there for you.

CobraCo GAZ-G 3-Sided Gazebo Arch
Wedding Arch with Gate
If you choose a wedding arch, gazebo or columns, you can decorate with flowers and fabric or inexpensive tulle, leaving the ends of fabric that’s woven through or draped loose, to hopefully be picked up by the breeze from the wind, creating a billowing affect. For your wedding arch, you can create a focal point by placing two large floral arrangements at the bottom of the arch on each side, which can also be used as reinforcement for sturdiness if needed. If any of your centerpieces or arrangements are not heavy enough to withstand light wind, add rocks inside vase, container, or flower pot to add weight.
Seating your wedding guest:
You will need to rent folding chairs and tables. White folding chairs cost a few dollars more to rent than brown folding chairs.
Also, you will need to choose table styles, round, rectangle, or both.
Round Tables: average round tables will measure 48 inches and will take up less space, you can comfortable seat 10 people = 10 chairs which is usually the basic way to go in order to cut cost and space.
Long Tables: If you are using some or all long tables, you can place 3 tables in a U shape or 4 tables in a square. Make sure you are comfortable with your design before you call to book your tables from the rental company you choose, because you may need multiple size tables depending on your design. You can usually rent all your supplies and decorations from the same rental company, which will be easier for you when dealing with pickup, delivery or anything else that might come up.
If using a tent, size it according to number of wedding guest you want covered, large enough to shade the amount of people you invited. You can rent one large tent, and divide into 3 or 4 sections, to arrange different seating areas.
Wedding Tents and Canopies: There are many parts to a tent when renting one. Most of us see wedding tents beautifully decorated without total cost and the variety of options and prices. For example, you may choose to have an open tent, which will be cheaper than paying additional for tent walls, BUT you have to factor in weather conditions, and evening weddings.
There are different types and prices of tents for your wedding. Enclosed tents, open tents, fabric tents, etc.
The benefit of having your wedding outdoors is that you can take adv
antage of things you might have been restricted from inside a church or venue that have rules and would not allow candles to be lit, or use of sand or confetti, and releasing butterflies or even having a pair of caged doves.

Outdoor wedding tips and Ideas
* You will still need to choose a theme for your wedding, so that you can incorporate it throughout the location you choose. For example we will go with a textured theme of woven baskets, bamboo accessories, wicker, rattan, textured charger plates etc.
* Critically important will be for you to map out and design the area for your food, seating, disposal for easy clean up where things will run smoothly, efficient and not chaotic, also don’t forget about parking for your guest.
* For your walkway or aisle, you can line it with rose petals or incorporate your textured them with flowers placed in woven baskets.
Woven fans for your guest. Monogram your logo or initials on them and tie a ribbon for an added touch
Tents:
Swag garland and lights(which usually come together as a set) from your tents and/or hang lanterns from your patio, gazebo
Ice Sculpture:
If you will have an ice sculpture, see if you could get 2 additional ice blocks, instead of having to pay for a whole ice bar so that you can place fresh fruit or cocktail shrimp around your ice sculpture.
* Take into consideration that even though it’s your vendors responsibility to know which foods work best in what temperatures. You don’t want food to spoil and you don’t want your wedding cake to melt. Buttercream frosting and hot temperatures DO NOT MIX, fondant covered cakes are better when dealing with hot weather. This is all depending what time of year you are getting married, so it’s good to have a back up plan.
